HEAD COACH/OWNER

I have been active in sports all of my life. I played all types of sports in my younger years but as I grew older I found my true love with baseball. I was able to play at the highest levels in baseball at Bainbridge Island High School where we played for the State Championship at Safeco field. I also played for Santa Barbara CC where we set team winning records and reaching California regionals. On a personal level, I achieved all metro conference and all state teams and again all conference team in college.

After College I moved to Huntington Beach where my real journey in CrossFit began. A block away from my apartment was a CrossFit gym named CrossFit Redemption. I had seen CrossFit on ESPN that summer and was very interested. I walked in and introduced myself and a day later I started working out. It was some of the most intense and hard work I had ever done in my life and I LOVED IT! I wasn’t very strong or in shape but I knew I had found my passion.

I earned my CrossFit training certification with one of the top CrossFit games athelete, Camille Leblanc-Bazinet, as my instructor. I also was blessed to intern under two amazing coach’s. Coach Gabe Baltadano who made it to the CrossFit games in 2007 and Greg Sand who was a USA strength and conditioning coach for the Olympic Skeleton and Bobsled team. The information I obtained from those two could not be taught out of a book or on a video.

I opened Agate Pass CrossFit Monday August 19th, 2013. The gym has grown to be an amazing community of people who enjoy what they do everyday. I take pride in helping people accomplish their goals and make sure each and every athlete is achieving the best experience on there journey to better fitness. If you have not come to Agate Pass CF, I encourage you to give us a call. Come try your free session and begin your journey to better fitness and health through CrossFit at Agate Pass.

I discovered CrossFit in the spring of 2013, shortly after moving back to the PNW from Jackson,Wyoming where I spent 20 years living the “ski bum, mountain town lifestyle”. Is pent all of my free time in the mountains- climbing, trail running, hiking, snowshoeing, xc and downhill skiing. I am an endurance sport junkie and I find that CrossFit gives me the skill, strength and stamina to accomplish the variety of sports I enjoy. I love that no day at the gym is ever the same!

I have 3 beautiful children, and a wonderful husband of 10 years. I am your average mom. My life, like much other parents revolves around my Ohana. It took me some time for me to chose me and get after my fitness goals. I grew up playing competitive basketball and volleyball my whole life and still do. But that was about as far as my fitness journey went. It was not until about 3 years ago I joined Agate Pass ‘CrossFit’ and discovered my love for the barbell and gymnastic movements. I came to the gym every day for about year straight eager and wanting to learn/ grow as an athlete. I have competed in 6 CrossFit competitions over the past 2 years, which has given me a chance to compete alongside and learn from many other athletes/coaches. I have then had the opportunity to train under Colby Morse head coach of Agate pass Fitness, as well as attend the CrossFit level 1 trainers course. Now being a coach, I can share my passion and knowledge of fitness with you!!! So, let’s get it!!

COACH

I loved sports back my youth when I played baseball in high school and community college. I was a pitcher, where you would have to wait your turn in the rotation to play. In between starts, I was the kid standing on the top step of the dugout very vocal cheering our players on the field. I played on some great teams and several of my teammates were drafted by pro teams. But what I really remember about playing baseball was the sense of team, caring, and pulling for each other/team to succeed. This is what I really defines my passion: helping and cheering others on to help them succeed.

After graduate school, I had a 32 years career with Weyerhaeuser Company, involving numerous roles and a lot of sitting in meetings or traveling the globe. I did not make my health a priority. I gained 40 extra pounds and my ability to cope with stress was brought to a near breaking point. I was on a slow march to either a heart attack or a break down. Something had to change to turn my physical and mental health around.

The change that happened to me was the Agate Pass Fitness community. At Agate Pass Fitness I get to live my passion every day where I am either coaching, cheering, challenging others to go beyond where they ever dreamed possible. I also get to be coached, cheered, and challenged by an inclusive community of friends who really care about each other.

The list of success stories of members reaching their goals or setting personal records (RP’s) are endless. It is so rewarding to see and experience for myself too. When I first started out 7 years ago I was weekend (workout) warrior and 40lbs overweight. By 2017 my ranking in the Open for my masters age group was 1,065th in the world. After dedicating myself to coming to Agate Pass Fitness more consistently and changing my diet, my 2019 ranking in the Open for my masters age group improved to 52nd in the world. I am proof that anyone can improve with a strong community of coaches and friends there to motivate you every step of the way.

Come join our team. It may be the best investment you can make in your life too.

COACH

I am a mom of 2 kids, 4 horses, 2 dogs and 3 grand puppies.  I love the Kitsap area and the lifestyle it offers to all that live here.  Our family started Agate Pass Fitness about 8 years ago.   I had always had an interest in horseback riding but was not a high school or college athlete.  This is where I think I bring a unique perspective to coaching.  Many people believe you have to grow up being a competitive athlete to come to a gym like ours and I am here to show you that is not true! We have athletes that come to us in all shapes, sizes and ages and each and every one of them find out they can succeed and have fun doing it! You are never too old to get started and get fit and have fun doing it!

I had done the whole workout video thing in the past and never wanted to walk thru a robo gym door as I was not the perfect “barbie” in the cute little leotard. I found out that it is very hard to stay motivated when you are working out on your own.  It is also extremely boring to do the same workout day in and day out by yourself. I needed a coach to push and encourage me and a great community to work out with.

Living in the current times our cardio health coupled with increased lean muscle percentage is the most powerful tool we have to stay healthy.  Come try our HIIT (high intensity interval training) and find out that getting fit can be fun.  You will work out with an incredible group of people that are there to get a great workout but have fun at the same time.  We do a different workout each day so you don’t get bored and you use all the different muscles in your body. You will find that you don’t want to stay home on the couch anymore because you don’t want to miss out on working out with your friends you will meet at Agate Pass.

I coach HIIT and also coach people on nutrition. I teach people how to develop a sustainable way of life that they enjoy while at the same time losing fat and gaining muscle.

Whether you are fresh off the couch and completely out of shape or you are an active in shape person come and try our program. Our coaches will scale the workout for your fitness level and any challenges you are dealing with. Test drive our program and find out it will completely change your life.  Come find out that every single person that walks thru that door is treated equally…there are no “cool kids” or “clicks” at our gym.  We are commonly told that people are so nervous when they first come and about 2 minutes after they start all of that melts away. If your knees hurt…I get it….if your shoulders have developed problems over the years I get it….if you are completely out of shape I get it and we will scale for you and get you in shape anyway.  I coach with compassion and caring and want to share this fitness world with you!
